Monday I write about car-deer accidents, then on Thursday....
...Thursday night I have agility class. Quite a hike, it's out in the country - woods, marshes, farms, dirt roads.
I pulled in right after one of the other participants. She was driving a Chevy Suburban with three Belgian Malinois inside. As she pulled up under the lights, you could see the front of the truck was smooshed in and some pretty colored liquids were dripping onto the pavement below.
Yup, she had just hit a large buck (they are rutting now; their minds are on sex and not traffic.) It leapt out from the side of the road into her Suburban. Actually, I guess it collided with her and not the other way around! When the sheriff came out to get a report and call a wrecker, he said it was something he dealt with every day, this time of year.
The cute thing? Despite all this, she wanted to be sure the wrecker didn't come until after 9pm so she could complete the classes and run all her dogs! There's a pro for ya. :)

We have the same problem here, but it happens all year round. Not long ago, I stopped to let two does cross and just as I started moving a fine looking buck leaped over the hood of my car. Critters are just part of rural living.......
off subject here..but you know on stat counter you can find out who googled what and came up with your blog? well someone actually googled 'baby shit sue puppies' and got my blog..im still laughing.
in the space of 5 days my last husband the dear departed jack was driving from farmington new mexico to roswell and hit a cow and then a deer..our car and then the rental car..i told him he pissed someone off
The deer are not just confined to rural areas. The last place I lived they got so hungry they invaded the city, shopping center parking lots, yards and gardens. I never thought of Bambi the same after that.
Nice that the lady who got hit by the buck had her priorities straight.
Vickie, yikes - there was a deep pointed dent on the hood of her truck either from an antler or hoof...we have them year round here too but it's real bad this time of year.
Jackiesue....ROTFLMAO! That is just fabulous. Hope they learned something from ya...
Jan, I'm in the city and last fall a deer got killed on the freeway near me...they follow the river into town sometimes.
ha ha ha - agility junkies :-)
we live out in the country and have deer year round. and, no, they are not just out in the country. problem is, not as much interest in deer hunting as there was in times pass, which contributes to the problem.
